Ok, what is up with making all the American Idol contestants sing Dolly Parton songs? HELLO! She has the most simple, old-style songs, and the most unique voice to go along with them. Of course the contestants on the show are going to have a hard time with them! I think AI should not make them pick from a certain singer's songs...it would be nice if they could just sing what they want to sing, or at least pick a song from a certain year. So they have more than one style of song to choose from, ya know? I was bored out of my MIND during Tuesday's show. Ugh. The judges always make comments like, "oh you'd never hear that song on the radio today" etc etc. Of course you wouldn't! It was originally done in 1954! Unless they are song rewriting geniuses, it's not likely they can update an old song, like one of Dolly's. Does anyone agree?

Tired of A.I.'s Theme Nights

I think AI should not make them pick from a certain singer's songs...it would be nice if they could just sing what they want to sing, or at least pick a song from a certain year. HAHAHAHA You crack me up!! It is SO true though! BTW, I just barely got your message YESTERDAY that you left on my cell phone. How does that happen? Do they get lost in cell phone space?
I agree, Dolly Night was Not Good, I didn't know any of the songs excpet the Whitney One. Dolly is just so old fashion to me. It really was torture listening to them. I guess I'm not a Dolly Fan. Simon was so moody that night too and so hard to please. I get the impression he didn't care for Dolly much either.
I think Dolly is a great song writer and she was SO sweet! Too sweet, though, because she didn't give any constructive criticism, just nicety nice nice. I think you can be nice and still push them to get better. She was really cute, though.
All that said, I am sick of the theme nights. I think it makes it much more difficult on the contestants than it needs to be. It's so not real world because they really can't shine the way they would in "real life" by singing anything they want in order to show their true style and capabilities. OK, gonna stop now--looking like the true AI nerd that I am, heh heh!
Well I missed Dolly night because I was with Lucy at Activity Days- I guess I didn't miss much. I totally agree- Just let them sing what they like. Then maybe we could like it too!
