Correct folks. My "little" boy is now 5.5 months old and a whoppin' 20 pounds! (I figure this out by weighing myself, then weighing myself while holding him, and subtracting the difference). So ya know, it's unofficial--but last time I did this and I was dead on when he was weighed at the pediatrician's office the next day. So it is pretty accurate in my book. Look at this cute grin!
I took this picture while trying to teach him to roll over. He can only roll from his tummy onto his back. He prefers being on his back, so once this is achieved he babbles with delight and stays there. (By the way, don't those raised eyebrows remind you of anyone??? Ha!)
This perspective seems to create the illusion that his head is big, but it's not. Ok, it is kinda big. Like a tomato. A cute tomato. One you want to squeeze the cuteness out of!
Here's our man in his cool doorway jumper that we borrowed from my friend, Krista. He's growing pretty fond of it.
I thought this was funny because lately when I lay him down like this, he stiffens up and starts grunting like crazy. It is too funny! I just wish I wouldn't have cut his feet out of the picture. Take a look at those cuuuute chubber thighs!

Billie Jean Rocks
Ok, anyone who knows me knows I LOVE American Idol. However, this year I've been pretty bored. I like Brooke...and that's about it. Until this. I thought it was SO GOOD (and I don't even like "rock" music that much). I had to post it. Wow! While watching it, I forgot I was watching American Idol. It felt more like MTV. Go David Cook!

Firestarter?
Remember this old movie from the 80s?
Well it's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this picture of Jase. HA! (Though I hope he cannot start things on fire just by looking at them). You could take a new twist on this photo and say that a ray of light from heaven came down and the angels are singing "hallelujah" at how cute and good this boy is! Tee hee...OR, it's just one lovely shot of this kid's crazy bed head!

Jasey Feet
We went to Sam's Club with Jase the other day, and we had his carseat on top of the shopping cart. It was cold outside so we had a furry blanket covering him up--well, most of him anyways. All I could see were his two red-socked feet hanging out and jiggling around. I thought it was cute, so I snapped a pic with my cell phone. Hurray for camera phones! (BTW, for those mommies out there, Old Navy has the BEST kid socks around AND they come in all sorts of colors, stripes, and patterns. Much cooler than boring ol' white socks.)

Early Easter Present
We went to the store to get one of those Fisher Price Jumperoo's, and came back with the fancy pants Evenflo Triple Fun Exersaucer. Roob saw it and thought it was MUCH cooler. Jase was definitely ready for the next stage in "baby entertainment" toys bc he doesn't really like laying down anymore. He prefers to be sitting or standing, with assistance, of course!
There are SO MANY detachable toys on this thing, it is crazy! They play music, light up, sing, and everything else! The saucer also bounces and rocks as he moves. And the seat turns 360 degrees, so that's cool too. Looks like he's choosing his fingers over the toys!
Dad just pulled on that cute little bird toy and he's totally captured by its song!
It appears we have worn little Jasey out. Too much toys, sounds, and colors! Phew! Put me to bed!
I think he will end up really liking this thing once he gets the hang of it. If not, I am selling it bc it was one expensive gadget! He better LIVE in this thing as far as I'm concerned! Heh heh.

Gall Bladder Doom
Most of you have heard of my bad luck--I had to have my gall bladder removed on Friday. That was my first official surgery (besides the c-section) and I was really scared. Next thing ya know it was over-or so I thought. They were able to remove the gall bladder, but there was still a stone stuck in there so they had to call in an endoscopy specialist (yes, they shove some tube down your throat and do all sorts of fun things with it) to take care of that. My first surgery was about 8am. The endoscopy wasn't until about 4:30pm. The wait in between was torture. No food, no drinks, no ice, no nothing. GAH. And a lot of pain! You can see it on my face below:
This is my effort to try to smile. At this point I was happy bc the endoscopy doctor finally showed up and they were about to knock me out again. And I knew I could have some water when it was over. Hooray! You can see the "water joy" on my face below:
Then the doctor goes over the risks associated with this procedure and that was a bit scary! Apparently you can get pancreatitis and that is basically life-threatening. Awesome. Let's get started (Not)! The good news is that apparently I had the best doctor in the nation for this type of thing. Anyways, they started prepping me for it and this pathetic picture really captures how I was feeling:
(if you look closely in the above picture, you can see my busted up lip from them inserting that breathing tube in my mouth during surgery. fun!) Wow, these are really great shots of me--I should put these into a model search! :)
They had to keep me overnight (which was unexpected, it is supposed to be a same day release). Luckily my mom was able to come up to help me (we can thank her for the lovely pics), and Jase was able to stay at my mother-in-law's house. Later, they let me eat some "liquid only foods" such as jello, popsicles, chicken broth, and kool-aid tasting "nutritional" supplements. UGH. I thought that was strange (so sugary!). Well anyways, I hope all is well now and I can focus on healing and feeling better. If any of you have had gall stones, you know how horrid the pain is. I do not wish it upon anyone! They say that pregnancy usually is the catalyst. I started having what I thought were back spasms a few weeks after the baby was born. I'd have those "attacks" off and on, and they started to get worse. When the last one left me rolling around on the floor gasping for air, I went to see a doctor. That is how I found out what my real problem was. It's a good thing I did, too, bc I had an obstruction they didn't know about, which would have led to some serious problems that they were able to "catch" during my recent stay. I hope I never have to go back! I already feel somewhat better than I did yesterday, but I'll be taking it easy for sure. And I have 4 new scars on my stomach. Cool story to tell, eh?

Jase's 4 Month Stats
Height - 26.18", 91st percentile
Head - 17.1", 83rd percentile
I guess his head is trailing behind his body, percentile-wise! We think he hates "tummy time" bc his head is bigger than average to hold up! LOL. But seriously, I think his head is just perfect. A perfect little boy in the cutest package I've ever seen. That's Jasey Jones! Everybody wants one! *Wink wink*
Some of his new accomplishments: Chewing on hands at all times and will get mad at you if you block his hand action, googling, cooing, babytalkin', giggles, reaching out to grab toys and putting them straight into his mouth, kicking his feet like crazy, splashing inadvertently in the baby tub, trying to get used to being away from mom (even for small amounts of time--what can I say? he's a momma's boy!), can almost hold binky in his mouth by himself now, and my favorite one--peeing in his own face (wow, nice talent) when you take too long to change his diaper.
Scary thought: Did you know there was a government recall on the HIB vaccine? Scary! They told me that at the ped's office and I was like, "wonderful." So he didn't get that shot...but he got the others. However, that is not helping my worrying with the whole "vaccinate your kids" thing. Hmm.
