The Roobenator was in charge during Jase's nap today. He said he stayed put and went right to sleep! Weeeeeee! I went in and got him about an hour and half later before he woke up on his own. He was so funny! I said, "Do you want to go to church?" and he was freaking out excited about it (I wonder how long this will last?). He JUMPED out of bed, slid down the stairs and straightaway grabbed his shoes for me to put on. Too cute.
When we got there, he was the "star" of sacrament meeting. After each song was sung, he'd clap really loud and say "Yay!" (He even did this after a young woman played a musical number on the piano). Then after the prayers he would say "AMEN" really loudly and do it after everyone else had already said it. At one point, the teenager in the bench in front of us had been entertaining Jase and making him giggle. This was towards the end of the meeting and then someone gave the closing prayer. So Jase saw the teenager bow his head and close his eyes. Then he turned to me and said, "Mommy, he's sleeping! Wake him up! Wake him up!" Bwhahahaha! I was cracking up. While they were passing around the bread and water, Jase would say "The bread is coming! The bread is coming! Put it in my mouth!" and also "The water is coming!" OH and I forgot one more thing. The girls sitting in the bench behind us had fairly loud (and slightly annoying) singing voices. We probably sang a total of 3 hymns during the service. Each time we sang, Jase would spin around so fast and stare at them, all the while saying "They're singing! They're singing!" That was a little embarrassing, just because I don't know them very well. Heh heh.

The Big Boy Bed
This is how Jase "smiles" for the camera. It's hilarious!
I will be the first to admit that I was not really ready to do this. He's growing up too fast! I heard some bangin' and clangin' up in Jase's room this afternoon and went up to find that Reuben had taken off one side of the crib and made it into a day bed for Jase. Hmm. So I guess we're going to try it out :) I think he will be pretty good about staying in it to go to bed at night but the cruddy thing will be in the morning. Normally he'll lay there and play contently for at least 30 min+ until I come to get him. Now I think he will be coming to get ME out of MY bed in the morning. NOT COOL. In fact, I am dreading this. I am also dreading what will happen for naps...man!
So we took a quick trip into town to BabiesR'Us to see what kinds of guard rails they had so we could put one up to keep Jase from falling out of the crib. Apparently all the "cheaper" models are only made for twin beds and cost around $30 (what I was expecting). What I wasn't expecting was that the rail made to attach to cribs that convert into daybeds was $74.99!!! WHAT!??!! For $75 I will let Jase fall out of the bed! Call me crazy! So we didn't buy anything. Ha ha ha. We put him to bed about 30 minutes ago and so far I am pretty sure he went right to sleep (awesome). Now the real test will be what happens in the morning. We hid a video monitor in his room so we can watch and see what he does. OH, and about falling out of the bed...we put a big soft blanket down on the floor just in case he does (mom, don't panic). But the bed isn't really that high so I think if he does fall out he'll be okay. We're going to see how he does and then come up with some other solutions if necessary. In the meantime, enjoy this cute video of him I took while we were setting it up this afternoon:
