American Idol 4.29-4.30

I can't contain my thoughts on this week any longer. Neil Diamond songs??? Kill me. Weak theme, if you ask me. Here's my rundown of the performances:
Syesha-1st song "Hello" was too old-fashioned and cheesy. Yet I can't deny she has a really good voice. 2nd song was MUCH better. I like her when she does the more "broadway/theatrical-type" songs. I think that is her strong suit.
David A-I know people love this kid, but I just think he's not for me. He kind of would work as a Josh Groban type or something. He seems a bit awkward on stage. The "Coming to America" song was kind of weird.
David Cook-I am not normally a "rock" music fan, but I have to say I think he's the most talented "up to date" singer on the show this year. He tends to take even a Neil Diamond song and make it sound somewhat remotely cool. Now that is a talent. I wasn't really crazy about either song he sang, but I thought he did much better than the others.
Jason-this kid is so laid back and sort of reminds me of that James Taylor vibe. He could be cool. But each time he sings it is the SAME SAME SAME.
Brooke-Oh my dear thing. That song "I'm a Believer" was so cheesy. Simon called it a "nightmare." I felt bad for her. She seems like such a nice person. I was sorry she got voted off tonight. Probably bc of Simon's comment. People tend to vote along with him. I thought she did good on her 2nd song "I am, I said." But I guess it wasn't good enough to keep her in. And I was really rooting for her, too. Shoot.

More LA Pics

Little Jasey's first plane ride. Went great on the way down. On the way back, however, was a different story. We had to wake him up at 5:00am to catch the plane, so he was too tired and fussy. So let's just look at this picture of him from the other flight. It's much more peaceful. My mom was in Louisiana for the first couple of days we were there. She loves playing with Jase!
Awww...so freaking cute!!!! He's hanging out with his Aunt Ashley!
Here's me and Jase waiting for the food to arrive at "Bouttee's," a small seafood restaurant down in Lafitte. Jase sure looks excited about something. Maybe it was the softshell crab? Mmmm.
I took this picture of Jase in his stroller while we strolled around the French Quarter. It was pretty warm outside that day. He never gets to wear just his onesie without pants, shoes, or socks. I think he liked it! Now if only he could go naked, he'd really like that!

Twilight Movie Sneak Peek

I've read the books and I'm definitely curious to see the movie. I'd say I'm a fan, but not a die hard like many of the twilight series readers. I'm not sure if I agree with most of the casting--won't be able to really tell until I see the movie. But I do think they found a great "Bella." Guess we'll have to wait until December! What do y'all think?

Down on da' Bayou

Here's the bayou's view from my dad's backyard. It's actually the inter coastal waterway from La to Tx. I think that's right, anyways. I'm sure my husband is reading this and laughing if I'm wrong! He's seen at least one alligator hanging out in his yard--and a water moccasin. YIKES. Better keep one eye open at all times!Jase, Paw-Paw Ron, and Jazzy girl (Ashley's baby) chillin' on the hammock.
Ashley and I just enjoying the nice weather at my dad's house.
I spent some time with my sister at her newly renovated home (after the flood from the hurricane) and we couldn't resist some fun cousin bathing time. This was Jase's first time in a real tub. I normally bathe him in my kitchen sink! He had a blast playing with Jazzy's tub toys. He liked them so much, when I got home I went straight to Target and bought him some. The only downside to bathing is that he can't sit up as good as his (2 month older) cousin, so he had to settle for the bath sling. I think he is jealous.
Me, my dad, Ashley, and our kids. This is in front of a water fountain on the Riverwalk in New Orleans. It's right off the Mississippi River. If you've ever seen the movie "Deja Vu," that was filmed right around here. Another funny thing--Ashley kept asking Jase if he'd had his V8 today because he was always leaning to the left or right. (As you can see below.) Pretty funny. Oh, and don't I look so much like my dad??? Wow. I forget how much until I see a pic of me next to him. Goodness. There is NO denying it!

Snapshots from our "too short" Trip

I did it! I found a way to eat oysters that I can actually swallow. When they are raw, I can't stand the thought of swallowing this slimy thing. Eeew. BUT, we ate at my Uncle's restaurant and the manager insisted we try some chargrilled oysters. They cover 'em with garlic, butter, and cheese. MMMMMM. As long as I didn't think about the fact that it was an oyster, I LOVED them! Here's my grandmother (so Jase's great grandma) with Jase. I am so glad she got to meet him!
This is a pic of me with Walter Mattheau. Just kidding! It's my Uncle George, but dang, what a resemblance, eh? (If you don't know who that is, he was in Grumpy Old Men and Dennis the Menace.) He's my dad's brother. And the funniest Uncle, ever!
Great shot of Jasey sitting up on his own! He's not perfect at it yet, but he's getting close! He tips over every now and again.
The great grandmother with my sister's baby on the left (Jazzmyn) and Jase on the right. She was in her glory!

"Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez!"

This is New Orleans' motto. It's in French. I don't really speak French, but it means, "Let the good times roll." Word up! We're going to be in the New Orleans area for the next week. So ya probably won't see any posts from me for a bit. See y'all next Wednesday!

Traditional LA Crawfish Boil...MMMMMMMOne of the Many Plantation Homes--Look at those trees!
Downtown in the French Quarter...so pretty!
Louisiana's Famous Swamps...at night you can shine a flashlight over the water and see all the alligator eyes looking back at you. Pretty freaky!

Laughin' Jones

I sound like a babbling crazy person in this video, but it's worth it to see little Jasey laugh. And for the record, I was trying so hard to hold the camera still while recording--but apparently that is pretty hard to do when you're bouncing around like a fool to entertain your kid.

Water is Cool

I hope you all like this video as much as I do. I think it is so cute because he is being so sweet. I happened to catch him in his relaxed moment. Wait till ya see his sweet pea face!!! Lately the world around him is absolutely captivating! It is hard to feed him because he constantly wants to look at something or turn his head to hear something else. (And yes, those are actually straw bonnets with pink ribbons you see on a lovely baby blue wallpaper border above my sink. *sigh* I can't wait to remodel the kitchen!!!)

My Niece

For those of you that haven't seen my sister's baby--here she is! She's 2 months older than Jase. Look at those eyes! Are you kidding me??? I get to go meet her for the first time in about a week! I'm so excited!I think her little face looks so cute in this pic. My sister had to get her ears pierced, too, of course! She has this girl dressed to impress!
Awww...tired after a long day of play!

Family Commercials

Hey, my Aunt owns a casting agency in NC and she sent me a commercial her husband did recently. It's cute! There was no way to embed the video into my blog, so for those who want to see it you'll have to click on this link to see my Uncle Mike in action: Preacher Man (he's the preacher). And to see my Aunt Mitzi in action, click here: Shopping Queen. Love it! She's the first lady you see pushing the shopping cart. She's in Bright Spot #3.

Tired of A.I.'s Theme Nights

Ok, what is up with making all the American Idol contestants sing Dolly Parton songs? HELLO! She has the most simple, old-style songs, and the most unique voice to go along with them. Of course the contestants on the show are going to have a hard time with them! I think AI should not make them pick from a certain singer's songs...it would be nice if they could just sing what they want to sing, or at least pick a song from a certain year. So they have more than one style of song to choose from, ya know? I was bored out of my MIND during Tuesday's show. Ugh. The judges always make comments like, "oh you'd never hear that song on the radio today" etc etc. Of course you wouldn't! It was originally done in 1954! Unless they are song rewriting geniuses, it's not likely they can update an old song, like one of Dolly's. Does anyone agree?
