I don't know why, but these two pics of him in this snow suit crack me up. His arms don't quite fill out the sleeves all the way, so the ends were flapping around like a penguin. I grabbed the camera just in time.

Penguin Man?
The Gift of Family
I was able to spend Saturday and part of Sunday at my mom's house. Mitzi, Uncle Mike, and the girls were still there, and Michael, Nathan, Meredith, and Hibbin came over, too. That was the most family we've ever had in one setting here. It was fun to look around and see all of us together. I really enjoyed hanging out. And what a special Christmas gift to us all to have my Aunt's family come to visit--especially to see our two new babies.
Below are my two brothers, Michael & Nathan:

Twilight
Ok. I have heard enough hype about this book called "Twilight" for a few months now. I have given in to my curiosity (despite the theme of this book) and purchased myself a copy. For the very few of you that haven't heard about it, it is a love story between a mortal girl and a vampire boy. Yes, I know what you are thinking because that is what I am thinking. This has to be so dumb! Well, I have read my first few pages and so far, it isn't a "page turner," but I hear you have to give it a couple chapters. (Ok, I am putting my trust in that.) Anyways, the author is Stephanie Meyers, a BYU grad, and her books have made it onto the New York Times Bestseller list. Yay for her!
So here is my funny story. When I went to Costco and picked it up, I noticed the sticker on the book (Costco's price sticker) said "juvenille." GAH how embarrassing! Juvenille! To think a 30 something year old would buy a juvenille book?! So I go to pay for the book and get this, the checker (who was a male) says to me, "Are you buying this book for YOU???" I wasn't sure how to respond since I was completely embarrassed. Hesitantly I stated, "yes." Then he proceeded to tell me how his mother and wife wouldn't shut up about the book, but how he thought the book's premise sounded so dumb. I laughed and told him I had finally heard enough about it, and I wanted to find out for myself. I'd have to let him know how I liked it. So I'll let you know, too.

Sweet Baby Jones...
Popsicle Toes
Today my cousins, their parents, and my mom came up to our house and we went snow tubing. It was super dooper cold (about 15 degrees) and we were in the shade. But we had so much fun. Emma, I think, had the most fun b/c when it was time to go, she cried and cried and had to be carried to the car. Awww...Then we went back to my house for a giant sam's club pizza and hot chocolate with peppermint sticks. YUMMY.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!
Here's me and the cutie babe, Jasey. Decked out in his lovely Christmas garb. Though I forgot his cool red & white polka dot elf hat. Dang it. We spent the first half of the day at Roob's parent's house, where we had a lovely traditional crumb cake breakfast! Then we headed off to my mom's house for the rest of the day and some yummy dinner.

Let it Snow!
This picture is for my dad. He was here for a week and wanted to see it snow so badly. Well, on Christmas Eve we definitely got a big snow storm! I wish I had some better pics to show how hard it was coming down! We probably got at least a foot of snow by our house. It was awesome! If you click on the picture you can see it better...

Jase's 2 Month Stats
Well, little (or should I say big?) Jase went in for his 2 month check-up and immunizations on Thursday. Needless to say I was a bit worried about the shots--and what his reaction would be. I have had a lot of people tell me a bunch of reasons why NOT to get immunized. Anyways, I did some research and talked to the pediatrician (who we really like), and we decided to go ahead and do it. He is doing fine!
Here are his latest stats:
Head 16.1", 80th percentile
Weight 14.13 lbs, 96th percentile
Height 24.4 inches, 95th percentile

For those of you that are wondering what the percentiles mean (b/c I didn't have a clue until I had Jase and you start to learn all this baby lingo), it means out of 100 babies his age, only 5 of them would be taller than him. Make sense? So basically, he is fairly well proportioned and a nice size for his age. BIG BOY! He's so stinkin' cute.

Jasey Jones
I took this picture one day while I was letting the baby just chill out on the floor. I absolutely love this shot! I love how the light is on his face with the shadow along his backside. I think he looks so peaceful, and I love how the light is reflected in his eyes. You should click on it so you can see it in its original size.
This is one of my favorite rompers for Jase. It's from Baby Gap (one of my favorite baby clothes stores). I think it looks so cute on him. I wanted to get a pic of him in it before he grows out of it...since he is getting really good at growing out of clothes lately!
My mom took this picture of him (on his cool lime green changing pad) while we were visiting her. I can't live without the long sleeved white onesie from Carter's. I went and bought 4 more in a bigger size, because they fit his body perfectly and are so well made. Plus they go with everything!

Jasey -- 6 weeks old
Well I've been dying to know how much he weighs, so I got on the scale by myself and then got back on holding the baby to see how much weight he added. My guess was 12 pounds--but apparently I was mistaken! The scale said 14 pounds!!! WOW.
Here he is in one of my favorite outfits--of course it's from baby gap! Love it!
Mom took this shot and we were cracking up! Such a funny face! Heh heh.

Bopsy Twins on T-Day
(Hibbin is on the left, Jasey is on the right.) Hibbin is my brother Nathan's baby. He is about 4 weeks older than Jase. Cutie cousins, eh? Hibbin is MUCH bigger than Jase, but you can't tell due to the blanket around him.
Here's Grandma Jenith holding Hibbin, and there I am holding Jasey. I have never noticed how olive Jase's skin tone is, but in this picture you can really see it. And look how fair Hibbin is!
Another picture of little Jase in his Thanksgiving fleece overalls. He's sleeping! So Thanksgiving was fun! First Roob and I went to see his sister Kristen, her husband Mike, and their little girl, Amaya. They only live about 10 minutes from my mom's house, so that worked out nicely. We were there a couple of hours, and then headed over to my mom's. We had a yummy but simple T-day dinner. I have to say the turkey and gravy were the highlight of the meal for me! YUM. I also brought my homemade mac & cheese, but I think I put a little too much cheese in it. Oops--but it was still pretty tasty. After we ate, we hung out for a bit until Nathan and Meredith could stop by (they were at her parent's house). That's when we started taking pictures, but of course we don't have any pictures of the adults (except the one you see of me and my mom above). Dumb! I should have taken pics of all of us. Oh well, next time I suppose!

Feeding Times
Well, Jasey (his latest nickname) is now just over 3 weeks old. For the most part, I think he's a pretty good baby. The "hard" days are those when he wants to eat less than 2 hours apart. That seems to happen every few days. They say that it's normal and call it "growth spurts." Glad it is normal, but dang, it is a challenge! Today was one of those days, and it pretty much means I am stuck in the recliner feeding him all day. It gets a bit frustrating after a full day of that!
We gave him a bottle for the first time yesterday. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen! We weren't sure how he'd react, but man, that little dude INHALED that milk so stinkin' fast! We were cracking up! The sad thing is that it took me about 25 minutes to pump the 4 oz. of milk he drank, and he drank it in less than FIVE minutes! Ha! But needless to say, I am thrilled that he had no problem taking it. We tried the Avent bottle, and one of the Playtex Drop-In bottles. No problem with either of them. Yay! We are planning to go to a football game next Saturday, and Grandma Jenith has agreed to watch the baby (thanks, mom!). So now he will be able to eat while I'm at the game! Phew! :)

A Funny Email

I got the following email from a First American Title Marketing Rep that I work with. I have never laughed so hard! I sent him the first picture you see of Jase, and he wrote me back the following quote in an email with the above pictures attached:
"Dang you have a cute kid! The poor boy was dressed up in his first Halloween costume when he was only a few days old. My favorite is The Russian. I did a little research to see what your Jase will look like in the future…"

Our Little Tax Deduction
There is a story behind this little outfit...When I found out I was pregnant, it was just a few days after we had done our taxes (at the end of Feb 2007). I was trying to think of the perfect way to tell Roob, so I bought a card and a stuffed baby rattle from Hallmark. I put the rattle in a gift bag and handed him the card when I got home. Inside it said, "I wanted to be the first to congratulate you on our newest little tax deduction for 2007." It couldn't have been more fitting! Roob's face was priceless--I'll never forget it. I was scared out of my mind! And now our little tax break is here. So crazy! Anyways, my sister (Ashley) found this onesie somewhere and sent it to me (she knew the story). Thanks, sis!Jase Pics at 2 weeks old
