Jase & Ian, Catch-up

Man, I am soooo far behind with blogging. Just overwhelmingly so. I almost want to just give it up, but I know I can't. This is pretty much the only "family history" I have for us. I can't quite finish (or start) any other projects that I want to do like Jase's baby book, for example. LOL. It hardly has a thing in it! And poor Ian never even GOT a baby book at all! ARGH! I need an assistant. Oh well, I will try to do my best and keep this updated as much as possible.
Jase. He's 3. Still 3. He went through a phase for a couple of weeks that was VERY difficult for us. Oh my goodness! He was so defiant and sassy! But lately he's back to his normal self...says the funniest stuff, can be so loveable, and can also manage to drive ya crazy from time to time. Like I said, normal. He loves giving and getting hugs! And he's into telling people that he loves them. We built him a huge snow hill in our backyard that he can go sledding on. It is too cool! He loves it, and it's a good way for him to get out some energy. Jase loves Ian, and loves to get reactions out of him. He is always making some kind of noises to see how Ian will respond to them. That response varies from smiling to crying, LOL. Jase wears about a 4T in tops and 3T or 4T in pants. His shoe size is 9-10! Jase's current favorite movie is "Despicable Me" which he is constantly quoting. (We love that movie, too. It's adorable.)

Ian. He's the sweetest thing. Just a few days away from 9 months old. I love how "easy" he is these days. Just keep him fed and he's good to go. He eats soooo much food, it's kind of scary. He can roll around and army crawl, but still hasn't figured out how to really crawl just yet (and i'm ok with that!). He still says "dada" and just yesterday said "mama(or baba, i'm not quite sure)" and makes all sorts of other noises. In the last week or two, he can finally sit up pretty well by himself. He also learned how to do the pincer grasp and feed himself little bits of bread or Gerber baby puffs. I love watching him do this for some reason. It makes me happy. His hair has gotten a bit thicker, and I think soon it will be moving into that "wispy" phase that I LOOOOVE! I can't wait! When he gets excited, he holds his hands up in the air and wiggles his fingers. It's so cute! Right now he wears about 9 month sized clothing, and a size 4 shoe. It's really easy to get him to laugh, too, which is so fun. We still haven't figured out who in the world he looks like?? I guess the milkman's kid? Hee hee. Well it doesn't matter anyways since he's so adorable!

Ian's Blessing

I found his blessing outfit on ebay for a STEAL. It was a cotton/linen blend, and just darling. I loved it. Not too cheesy. Not too girly. Just right. My little E-boppers (that is what we call him these days) looked so cute!We were able to do Ian's blessing on July 4th this year. It worked out great bc the day before we had a family reunion for Reuben's side of the family--so a bunch of aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins were able to stick around for the blessing on Sunday. Afterwards, we had a bunch of goodies and dinner at our place. Reuben's family helped me plan it out. It was a great day! And the weather was gorgeous!

Here's a pic of us on the porch...
Me, Roob and Ian. Yeah. We are sort of like wooden statues in this one...can ya say, "Awkward!"
Ok, I like this one MUCH better. BUT I only posted the pic above bc it was a better shot of Ian. LOL.
And here's my entire little fam...we had to get one with Jasey, too!

The MOVIES!

I have been dying to take Jase to the movies as soon as I thought he could actually "sit" through one. So when I scored free movie passes (btw, Disney makes it very annoying to redeem these things!) for Toy Story 3, I knew it would be the time to try it out! We were lucky the day we went--hardly anybody was in the theater. We chose our own seats (top back row by the aisle) and that turned out to be perfect. Armed with popcorn & drinks, we all took our seats excited for the show to begin. I snapped a couple pics to commemorate this momentous occasion!

Jase watching the previews...(and Ian...you can see his carseat in the upper right)
Mom sneaking in to prove I was also there, hahaha (Daddy was there, too)...
Chowin' down while watching the opening scene!
So I think I can say that Toy Story 3 is my new favorite out of the series! Spanish Buzz is hilarious!!!!!! And I totally cried at the end! OMG! (so did Roob, haha) As far as Jase goes, he was pretty darn good throughout the show! He stood up a lot of the time, but he stayed close (we had to say something to him once or twice). He was so good that we took him to see "Despicable Me" the following week! (super cute movie, too, gotta get me some minions--and Steve Carell did a great job with the character--i loved his voice)

Photo Session

Ah, photos. I am always drooling over everyone else's pictures I see taken by photographers. The lighting is incredible, the editing; perfect, the people; gorgeous, the oufits; A-list worthy. I personally know two photographers and follow their stuff--Wendy & Sharstin. Both do amazing work (click on their names if you wanna see their sites). Sharstin did Jase's 1 yr pictures and they are fabulous! Wendy was able to squeeze us in for a session just last week while she was here for a friend's wedding (she currently lives out of state). I don't do this very often (if I were rich I'd do it every 3 months! ha ha) so when I do I have all these things in my head that I want to bring for the shoot--like creative props (chairs, wagon, stroller, favorite blankets, toys). I also try my darndest to coordinate all of our clothing for group shots. I need a fashion person to do this for me bc I STINK at it. I am so un-fashiony. I always end up "matchy matchy" bc I am at a loss.

Anyways...So d-day comes and it's all I can do to get myself dressed (changed my outfit at least 4x), kids dressed & fresh diapers put on, then out the door. All the while asking myself "why am I doing this?" and fussing at Jase to hurry up. I did manage to grab a hat, a couple changes of clothes for the baby (just in case)...I was in the WORST MOOD! Then once we got there Jase was completely uncooperative (kept shying away from the camera and making goober faces) and I couldn't get Ian to smile for nothin'! What? ARgh! Kids! Then Reuben was going to come, too, but of course I was running late (what's new) and that meant he had to go to a work appt before I got there! Oh well. I tried. So that meant poor Wendy wasn't able to just take pictures--she ending up being like my assistant nanny! (Running after Jase while I changed Ian, etc). And she drove an extra hour just to do this for me. So it felt like the day was a bust and I was so sad that I wasn't able to pull off what I intended to do...that is, until Wendy sent me two preview pics and I cried when I saw them. They are SO GREAT! I am amazed at what she captured with her camera! I can't wait to see the rest--thought I'd share a couple with you for now...

I love the look on Ian's face in this pic. I also love that I am kissing him on his sweet head. I love him so much!
So stinkin' cute! I found this little hat for him for a steal ($2) and the tie is actually one I bought for Jase a long time ago. I think this pic is too cute!

Ian's First Laugh!!!

This is the CUTEST THING EVER! Get ready to put your cute boots on! I was swaddling up Ian for his nap and just talking to him and I started wiggling his legs. All of a sudden this little laugh started coming out! It was MUCH better before I ran and got the camera (because I could use 2 hands to jiggle his legs)--but I am glad I at least captured something! Enjoy!

Look A-Likes? You decide!

I took this picture of Ian the other day (about 7 weeks old) and I remembered having a similar one of Jase when Jase was about the same age. I had to dig in my ol' files and find it. I think there are tons of similarities and some differences, too. Like their overall face shape (oval-ian- vs. circle-jase, and side curls-jase- vs. straight hair-ian). Check it out!

Ian...
Jase...

Here's another couple "look-a-like" shots...they both are wearing the same Nike hat. Funny how time flies soooo fast!

Is anybody in there?

So after 4 weeks of very little sleep, it is finally catching up with me. I think I am also getting sick (poo). Doesn't help the immune system to lose out on sleep, either. Sigh. Oh well. At least I made it through my pregnancy w/o getting super sick! Anyways, I feel like I have been drugged with some sort of drowsy, cloudy, sleeping pill. Only problem is, I can't just lay down and SLEEP! Pffff...it's like a robot is controlling me. I have plenty more videos/pics to post, but it'll have to wait until I can think straight. :) Yet somehow I am still functioning...barely. And wow, Jase is sure getting away with a lot these days...

P.S. Ian is 4 weeks old this Thursday! That went by way too quickly!

Ian's First Bath

Ian at 3 weeks old

Just took a quick video of him so y'all could get a better feel for what he really looks like (so cute so cute!). However, wasn't very smart of me to do it at night! The lighting could be better! Oh well, I'll try to get some more posted in the future. Uploading videos is a bit of a pain...ok, just realized that once again the video is being clipped on the right side. SO annoying! Oh well, I guess you can see what half of his face looks like! Heh.

Big Bro, Little Bro...

Took these when Ian was about 1 week old. He doesn't look all that small sitting on Jase's lap!
Heh heh, cute. Jase kept looking over at Reuben while I was taking pics.
He started to get more "brave" and started playing with Ian's arms. However, you should have seen his face when Ian actually started crying. He scooted away from the baby really fast!
Trying to get an idea of the height difference between these two. Hee hee. I love Ian's crazy eye (looking at his dad like, "what are you doing to me?") in this pic.

A few more pics...

These are when Ian was about 1 week old. I have lots more to post, they are just still stuck on my SD card. More to come. Here he is chillin' out in his bouncer seat (which I am in love with).
Sunbathing time! He needed some sun bc of the jaundice, so I used the shadow as his "sunglasses." Hee hee.
Ian's first trip to Chick-Fil-A in the carseat. Don't cha love his homemade "headrests?"
Ooh! His eyes were finally open long enough for me to snap a pic. Roob was holding him here.

3 + 1 = 4

Checking out of the hospital on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Our first family of 4 picture :)

More Pics of Ian from the Hospital

I have so many pictures to post--sigh. But here's a start! Just a day or two old in the hospital. He finally opened his eyes and we snapped a couple pics!
Ha ha, cute face here.
Hee hee, not so happy here! I took this one right before I fed him, I think. Hence the mad face.
So sweet sleeping on his side in the hospital bassinet. If you look at the top-left of the picture, you can see his little black & white sunglasses they put on him underneath the billiruben lights.
I love how cute his little face looks in this picture, the light catching in his eyes. That's grandma Jenith holding him. She spent Saturday night in the hospital with me to give Reuben a break.
Awww, sound asleep on my chest...look at those squishy cheeks!
Another sleepy middle of the night picture. Don't I just look dashing??? Ok let's focus our attention on Ian here. :)
We started dressing him in his "going home" outfit. Here's the first part of it and it is HUGE on him. Oh well. He still looks cute anyways!
Ok here's the entire thing. It's such a cute outfit but the hat & pants are gigantic! Size 0-3 months was just too big for my little 8 pounder! My sister sent the cute loafers for him, but since they wouldn't let us remove his ankle bracelets until we left the hospital (for security reasons), they wouldn't fit!
Here's a view of the back of his pants--a little bear bottom! Hee hee.
More pics to come soon...when I get a chance to post!
